2012 Columbia University Enrollment Form

Columbia University:

Shares prices for the 2012 season:

$572 for 23 weeks of vegetables

$70 for 20 weeks of fruit starting July 5

$100 for a winter vegetable share of three deliveries of 30 lbs each.

Payment:

Payment may be in full or an installment plan.  To pay in installments deposits are due at enrollment and the remainder of the share cost can be paid in 3 installments due April 1, June 1, and August 1.  Deposits are as follows: $50 for the vegetable share, $20 for each fruit share, $20 for each winter share, and $25 for each meat share.

Central Harlem:

The Central Harlem CSA members pick up at the Thurgood Marshall Academy on Thursday afternoons from 4 to 7 pm.  The school is located at 200 West 135th St.

Distribution

The 2012 distribution takes place at the farm on Friday afternoons for 23 weeks from June 15 to November 16. The optional winter vegetable share will be delivered on December 7. 2012, January 11, 2013 and February 8, 2013.

Payment:
You can pay for your share in full or in installments. If you choose to pay in installments a $50 deposit for the vegetable share is due at enrollment along with a $20 deposit for the fruit share, a $20 deposit for the winter share, and a $25 deposit for each meat share.  Installments are due April 1, June 1, and August 1.

Beef Share:  4 packages of ground beef, 2 packages of steak (Porterhouse, Rib, OR T-bone), 2 roasts, 1 package of stew meat or soup bone, and 1 farmers choice item.  This about 18 to 20 lbs of beef, a $140 for $125.

Pork Share:  2 packages sausage, 2 packages of bacon, 1 roast, 1 country style rib package, 1 smoked ham, 2 smoked ham steaks, and 2 pork chops.  This is about 18-20 lbs of pork, a $140 value for $125.

Lamb Share: 2 packages of ground lamb, 1 package of lamb stew, 1 package of lamb shanks, 1 shoulder roast or leg of lamb, 1 rack of lamb or loin roast, and 3 packages of lamb chops.  This is about 13-15 lbs of lamb, a $130 value for $115.

Chicken Shares:  The chickens are raised on Roxbury Farm's pastures by Mike and Shelly, two memersof the Roxbury Farm Crew.  They are fed certified organic grain from Green Mountain Feed in Vermont.  Each chicken will weigh between 4-5 lbs.  There are three share options that will begin in July and end in November.  A weekly share (20 chickens) for $375, a bi-weekly share (10 chickens) for $185, and a monthly share (5 chickens) for $100.

We apologize but we are not able to fill requests for specified cuts for the meat shares. 

You can order lamb and chicken to be delivered the week of January 16 on your regular pick up day at your regular pick up location.  We also have frozen green beans and winter squash puree available for ordering.  The green beans and Kabocha squash were grown on Roxbury Farm and processed at Farm to Table Processing Company in Kingston, NY.  Farm to Table processes vegetables, jams, and sauces for farmers in the Hudson Valley to give farmers the opportunity to have products available for sale year round.  To order meat click on Our Products at the top of the page and then click on Meat Orders.  To order frozen vegetables click on Our Products and then on Frozen Vegetables.  We will send you an invoice with your order and then you send in your payment.  Thank you!

Roxbury Farm Crop Manual

We're busy caring for the livestock, fixing equipment, and preparing for the 2012 season.  The cows have access to pasture but spend quite a bit of time in their new barn eating hay.  They have a deep bedding pack of straw that we will add clean straw to each week.  In the spring we will compost the manure/straw pack and spread it on our hay fields.  The cows are on the left side of the barn and the calves are on the right.

In a few of our newsletter we wrote about how we planned on implementing some draft animal power on the farm.  Donn Hewes and Maryrose Livingston from Northland Sheep Dairy near Cortland, NY are mentoring Keri, Matt, and I with this endeavor.  They found us a 9 year-old Haflinger draft pony, Milt.  Milt arrived at Roxbury Farm just before Thanksgiving. 

For the 2012 season besides our 23 week vegetable share we will also offer a 20 week fruit share, a winter share, beef, chicken, lamb, and pork shares.
